A few words From Ted Elyard

I took up metal craft and jewellery making about 15 years ago after retiring as a full time geologist and company manager. I have set up a small studio and workshop at home in Perth and enjoy making jewellery as a way to relax from the pressures of global markets downturns and working in the resources industry.


Most of my metal craft techniques were learnt from weekend courses at Perth Technical College (TAFE). My wife Leng, who studied fashion design in Perth, provides much inspiration and advice in the jewellery design stage.


Rings are my favourite jewellery item to make. “It all starts with the ring”.  I also enjoy working with contrasting metals. I have made pendants and rings using iron forged nails or found objects and contrasted them with 18 ct yellow gold. And, as a geologist, I enjoy using all types of precious gemstones
